When I first heard that Carey Mulligan was playing the role of Daisy for the new Great Gatsby movie roughly two years ago, I was was cool with it. But to be honest, my attention was more on Leo as Jay, and Tobey as Nick — perfect casting right there in terms of who I have envisioned as those characters since I first picked up the book ten years ago. But lately, along with the anticipation that has already been building over the film interpretation of my favorite book of all time, my intrigue in Carey has grown.
I loved her interview with Vogue, where she not only discussed her preparation for the role (love how she really dissected the book and how deeply she studied it), but a little bit about herself. She seems like a bright girl and grounded actress who takes her job very seriously, not the fame associated. In fact, the spotlight seems to genuinely make a her a little bit uncomfortable. What a breath of fresh air.
Can we talk a little bit about her style? Pantsuit perfection to classic, simple dresses. She might be one of the chicest actresses of our time, in my opinion.
“There I was, way off my ambitions, getting deeper in love every minute.”
