We are each strong-willed, independent individuals with big opinions and dreams. Because of this, disagreements and arguments are inevitable. We were brought up in two different environments and under two different sets of ideals. Because of this, we occasionally clash.
Though there are several areas of overlap and parallel, you can’t disregard the fact that we are two different people just trying to make it work like everyone else on this Earth. To communicate and learn and grow and thrive and live and love. And to do so synchronously is a challenge. It is never perfect, how could it be?
I appreciate his strong will, and I will never sacrifice my own. Even though this whole thing requires a great deal of compromise, it should never have to mean we must compromise who we are. It just means we have to find it within ourselves to open up our minds and hearts even bigger. I am so grateful that in the past near-decade, he has found a way to open his heart – big enough to fit me and my crazy schemes and free spirit.
While I am getting sentimental about leaving him for a few months, I feel blessed. I have never had to suppress who I am, or turn down an opportunity or adventure because of him. Whether he is thrilled about the idea or not, at the end of the day, he is my number one supporter. He lets me fly, he lets me be me. That’s what I call an #MCM. That’s what I call love.
